How do I book my reservations ?

The best way to book your seat reservations is through our website. You can use the Self-Service to book trains in Italy, France, Austria, Switzerland, Germany and the Benelux. For all other countries, you can make use of the Eurail.com Reservation Service.

There are also other ways to reserve your seats on European trains.

RESERVATION SELF-SERVICE

Lets you book trains in Italy, France, Austria, Switzerland, Germany and the Benelux

  • Book your e-ticket reservations directly through our Self-Service up to 3 hours before your train’s departure.
  • You can make e-ticket reservations for yourself and other Pass holders sharing your order number.
  • Your order number can be found on your Eurail Pass and consists of 2 letters and 8 digits (example: ER08493859).
  • Please note that the Self-Service system automatically assigns seats on the train.
  • E-ticket reservations need to be printed before you board the train.

EURAIL.COM RESERVATION SERVICE

Lets you book trains in other European countries.

  • Book your train reservations at least 8 business days before your train’s departure.
  • We recommend you start booking your reservations up to 2 months in advance.
  • We will process your request within 5 business days.
  • Physical reservation tickets will be sent to your shipping address for free. Someone must sign for it.
  • Reservations for Spanish trains will be delivered to you as e-tickets.

LAST MINUTE: AT THE TRAIN STATION

  • Booking period: 3 months to 1 hour before departure
  • Receive your reservation tickets straight away

You can make your seat reservations at the train station when you’re in Europe.

The train station may have an international ticket desk, self-service machines, or a Eurail aid office. You can pay by cash or credit card. In theory, you can reserve up to 1 hour before departure time, but if you leave it too late the train might already be full.

BY PHONE THROUGH CALL CENTERS

The following call centers can make seat reservations for most high-speed trains and night trains across Europe:

Austria: ÖBB booking center

Switzerland: SBB Booking Center

Luxembourg: CFL booking center

Many other countries in Europe have booking centers where you can make reservations for their national trains. For instance, you can reserve a seat on a Spanish train by phone and pick up your reservation at a Spanish train station. Some European trains can be booked through the Rail Planner App. This is a great option if you’re already traveling – just download the app and reserve your seat anytime before the train’s departure. You’ll get an e-ticket on your phone (no printing required).
